Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for safe operating of Manufacturing/Operations department; implementing and monitoring all safety and company policies. Assists Plant Manager assuming responsibility in his/her absence.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Follow and support all Company policies (Safety, ISO, QMS, GMP, and others as directed)
  • Helps drive safety initiatives and promotes a safe work environment
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements within the department
  • Implement operating procedures for the production department
  • Tracks and Manages uptime and production efficiencies for the department
  • Monitors machines for maintenance problems and ensures the problems are resolved
  • Address and resolve with Production Supervisors any problems that may develop
  • Has oversite for production scheduling to help ensure orders are completed on time
  • Maintain 24 hours/day, seven days a week on call availability
  • Monitors resin and additive, and packaging supplies
  • Involved in root cause and corrective actions for customer complaints related to product quality
  • Supervision of staff to include performance reviews, hiring, discipline and terminations
  • Develop and approve training and competency for Production employees
  • Optimize level of employee relations and safety program compliance
  • Monitor purchasing and maintain inventory control of supplies
  • Oversee scheduling of all lines on a daily basis
  • Act as alternate in the absence of the Plant Manager
  • Assume other duties as deemed necessary

 

ADDITIONAL FRONT LINE LEADER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible through active engagement in safety activities and provides clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations
  • Completes responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, and applicable laws
  • Actively leads risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventive actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health or safety risks
  • Lead all required meetings (i.e. Pre-shift, Department, Town Hall, etc.)
  • Completes incident investigations, root cause analysis and implements corrective actions accordingly in a timely and thorough manner
  •  Ensures the proper training and development of all assigned employees for whom they are responsible
  • Sets goals for their organizational unit; achieves goals and ensures that all employees understand and work toward achieving goals
  • Motivates and coaches employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback.  Identifies and coordinates additional training as needed

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.

4-year college degree and/or combination of education and work experience in manufacturing is required

 

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to organize and prioritize work activities and to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to make practical decisions without appreciable direction or advance preparation
  • Ability to communicate ideas to groups or individuals
  • Ability to use AS400, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Teams
  • Ability to use tools and measurement instruments
  • Ability to develop information tracking systems
  • Knowledge of business finances and manufacturing costs
  • Knowledge of extrusion process
  • Knowledge of national testing standards
  • Knowledge of and skill in the extrusion and blown film plastic process and associated equipment and machinery
  • May operate a forklift
  • Knowledge of and skill in use of computers, Kronos, AS400, and PC
  • Ability to support a 24/7 site
