3.1 Operates and adjusts the extrusion blow mold machines to ensure that the machinery and equipment are producing a peak quality and efficiency levels in order to meet Company’s goals and customers’ requirements.
3.2 Directs the activities of the Utility and Packer personnel assigned to their area.
3.3 Resolves basic processing and minor mechanical problems.
3.4 Utilizes the Mattec production reporting system in order to control and improve the process.
3.5 Coordinates with the QA department on production activities such as held ware, isolation procedures, etc.
3.6 Start-up and shut-down of the extrusion blow mold machines
3.7 Supports and adheres to all Berry safety policies.
3.8 Performs first articles on color and resin changes.
3.9 Follows and supports all GMP’s, maintains housekeeping standards in ownership areas.
3.10 All other duties as assigned
4.1.1 Must be able to identify each resin run at required process parameters for each resin such as melt temperature, drying temperature, if drying is required.
4.1.2 Must be able to perform the following:
4.1.2.1 Install blow pin assemblies, and adjust heights and align to molds. Must be able to disassemble and reassemble, as necessary, for cleaning during production.
4.1.2.2 Remove and install head tooling for cleaning.
4.1.2.3 Adjust head tooling for proper bottle weight and wall distribution.
4.1.2.4 Change blow pins.
4.1.3 Processing:
4.1.3.1 Must be able to maintain and adjust the process on all EBM machines.
4.1.3.2 Must be capable to identify and resolve basic machine and processing problems to ensure product meets all customers’ specifications and requirements.
4.1.3.3 Perform start up and shutdown procedure on all EBM machines.
4.1.3.4 Identify machine problems and be capable of communication to the Maintenance Department in writing via Maintenance Work Order and verbal communication in English.
4.1.3.5 Correct bottle defects through processing while achieving department scrap goals.
4.1.3.6 Understand all machine functions and sequence of operation.
4.1.3.7 Operate all EBM machine controllers.
4.1.3.8 Document all process parameters per run sheet.
4.1.3.9 Must be able to unjam bottles in the conveyor systems and adjust dimensions.
4.1.4 Support Equipment:
4.1.4.1 Must have knowledge of and the ability to adjust support equipment as necessary to maintain and meet production requirements.
4.1.4.2 Mold temperature control units – determine which temperature control unit is required based on median required (water or oil). Identify how many zones are required and temperature required for each zone.
4.1.4.3 Flamer – able to adjust flame for proper flame treat of bottles.
4.1.4.4 Video jet – able to start and stop video jet and clean head when clogged.
4.1.4.5 Concentrate color systems – able to set for specific color requirements and must be able to check calibration or percentage of color being used.
4.1.4.6 Handle Ram – able to operate, adjust and recall needed set-ups.
4.1.4.7 Dryers – Must be familiar with operation, alarm codes and be capable of filter changes.
4.1.4.8 Must be able to adjust and troubleshoot the Proco bottle handling system.
4.1.5 Quality:
4.1.5.1 Must be able to use QA instruments such as calipers, gram scale, moisture analyzer and Magna Mike.
4.1.5.2 Must be able to identify bottle defects.
4.1.5.3 If performing a color change, must be able to verify bottle dimensions before first article submission.
4.1.5.4 Must interface with QA department personnel in a positive manner.
4.1.6 SPC, Mattec & WebEFF:
4.1.6.1 Must have a general working knowledge of SPC/SQC.
4.1.6.2 Must have a general working knowledge of Mattec and the ability to input bottle measurements into Mattec for SQC.
4.1.6.3 Must be able to accurately enter scrap pieces into Mattec.
4.1.6.4 Must be able to accurately enter scrap and good pieces into WebEFF.
4.1.7 Safety & Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s):
4.1.7.1 Must be able to identify and report violations and unsafe conditions to the appropriate personnel. Must work in a safe manner at all times.
4.1.7.2 Must have knowledge of and be able to follow all GMP procedures.
4.1.7.3 Follow all department procedures and directives.
4.1.8 Work Team Organization & Leadership Skills:
4.1.8.1 Must be able to delegate duties and work with assigned team.
4.1.8.2 Must be able to perform other duties and assignments as directed by the Supervisor.
4.1.8.3 Must be able to demonstrate the ability to manage the complete assigned machine ownership.
4.1.9 Safety Work Badge Program must be followed.
4.1.10 Must provide tools to perform job functions.
4.1.11 Must be able to add, subtract, divide, multiply, calculate decimals and weight grams.
4.1.12 Must be able to read, write, and interpret graphs, numbers, dimensions, calipers and Magna Mike measurements.
4.1.13 Must be able to read, write, speak clearly to coworkers and supervisors.
4.1.14 Must be able to understand all traveler information.
4.1.15 Must be able to write daily activities legibly into the Group Leader Logbook. Must be able to write and complete Maintenance Work Orders properly.
4.1.16 Must be able to read and understand basic work procedures and instructions.
4.1.17 Must use logical reasoning to resolve problems, troubleshoot, interpret and carry out instructions.
4.1.18 Must have the ability to identify and decide that product conforms to specifications/requirements.
4.1.19 Must be able to respond to deadlines and other time requirements.
4.1.20 Must be able to respond in emergency situations as per the Plant’s Emergency Organization Team procedure (PEOT), and respond to personal injuries/accidents.
4.1.21 Must have the interpersonal skills with the ability to deal positively with others in a team environment.
4.1.22 Must have the ability to perform multiple tasks in a calm and controlled manner on a daily basis.
4.1.23 Must have a general mechanical ability.
4.2 Education and/or Equivalent Experience
4.2.1 Must have minimum two (2) years’ experience in a plastics machine operation.
4.2.2 High School diploma or equivalent.
4.3 Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
4.3.1 Must be able to work twelve (12) hours per day with three 15-minute breaks and one (1) 30-minute lunch. Must be able to work overtime on very short notice.
4.3.2 (Obsolete facility temperature information due to facility Climate Control system)
4.3.3 Must be able to work safely in the vicinity of open flames, hot plastic, oil and metal (at approximately 350-380 degrees). There is possible exposure to dust and odors from various substances such as oil, molten plastics, degreasers and cleaning solvents.
4.3.4 Noise level is usually 90dB and above and requires ear protection.
4.3.5 Must be able to work around sharp edges of machinery and moving machine components.
4.3.6 Must wear the following personal protective equipment: rubber soled/ steel toed shoes, ear plugs, safety glasses, hard hat, gloves and forearm sleeves.
4.3.7 Will be required to lift on an occasional basis anywhere from 10-35 lbs. Must be able to carry approximately 35 lbs. for a distance of 100 ft twice a day on the average.
4.3.8 Must be able to stand on average 10 hours a day and sit one hour a day for breaks.
4.3.9 Must be able to detect visual defects in a bottle, such as texture, contamination, color and print clarity. Must be able to clearly distinguish shades in color.
4.3.10 Must be able to hear and recognize various sounds such as emergency machine shutdown alarms.
4.3.11 Bending and twisting at a 90 ° angle will be required about 50% of the day.
4.3.12 Must be able to read and understand all work procedures and instructions.
4.3.13 Must be able to speak clearly in English.
4.3.14 Must be able to write legibly in the Group Leader’s Logbook.
4.3.15 Must be able to use necessary office equipment to carry out job.
4.3.16 Must have the ability to work on and around heavy manufacturing machinery.

5.1 Reports to the Production Supervisor.
