Responsibilities

Material Handler is responsible for the items listed in this job description

  1. Work with Supervisors to monitor production lines to ensure that the appropriate amount of regrind is being used on each line.
  2. Work with operators in the regrind room to ensure that material is properly handled and produced, staged and stored. Coordinating with the production and warehouse operations
  3. Work with scheduling, supervisors, and logistics to ensure that materials are available when needed.
  4. Ensure that all materials are properly identified and tracked to prevent mixed ware or product issues.
  5. Ensure that the regrind and material operations are performed in a safe and effective manner.
  6. Issue weekly and monthly reports as needed to track, identify the sources, and consumption of regrind.
  7. Maintain the materials areas good housekeeping, safety and SQF practices.
  8. Support ‘Zero Landfill’ Initiative.
  9. Insure the timely delivery of packaging and raw materials to maintain continuous operation of equipment
  10. Materials to be staged in the designated area around the appropriate machine in an orderly fashion
  11. Load cartons and bags to insure supply of finished goods cartons.
  12. Preparation of any special materials that may require manual mixing.
  13. Packaging of finished product and building palletized loads to customer specification
  14. Monitoring and operation of automated packaging equipment to insure proper performance.
  15. Applying appropriate labels of packaging slips for product identification.
  16. Removal of finished goods pallets to warehouse staging area.
  17. Handling of Operation Scrap
  18. Labeling and removal process generated scrap to appropriate area.
  19. Grinding of plastic components for the purpose of materials reuse.
  20. Shop floor Management Participation
  21. Participate in daily team meeting.
  22. Contribute / implement ideas to improve operations performances.
  23. Other Duties as Assigned
  24. Perform miscellaneous projects and data collection tasks.

Qualifications

 

  1.  High school diploma or GED equivalency
  2. Past experience / proven ability
  3. Must be willing to work flexible hours, as needed, including overtime and/or weekend hours.
  4. Basic math skills are a must
  5. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  6. Ability to communicate, and interface, with a wide variety of inside and outside sources.
  7. Show flexibility to handle frequent changes to responsibilities
  8. Must have knowledge of SQF and ISO 9001:2008
  9. Must have Forklift Experience and pass licensure (Class I and III)

Additional Info

Work Environment:

  • Manufacturing environment with exposure to machine noise, plastic fumes, and temperature variations.
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety glasses, gloves, and ear protection, hard hat, hair and beard guards.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs. 
  • Identify and record problems relating to product, process and quality system.
  • Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels.
  • Verify the implementation of solutions.
