As a standalone business, Vybond is poised to strengthen its leadership in pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes, delivering innovative solutions to industrial and specialty markets worldwide. Headquartered in Franklin, KY, with facilities in Riverhead, NY, and Bristol, RI, Vybond Group, Inc. manufactures specialty foil, film, and duct tapes and adhesives. With over 1,500 specialty SKUs spanning 500+ product families, Vybond serves 1,500+ customers across the HVAC, building and construction, industrial, retail, medical, aerospace, automotive, and other specialty industries.

Responsibilities

We are seeing a highly skilled and detail-oriented Quality Testing Engineer to support testing and validation efforts across automotive, nuclear, and material applications.  This role requires a deep understanding of external standards including ISO, IATF, ASME, NQA-1, ASTM, and PSTC, and the ability to apply them in real-world testing environments.  The ideal candidate will ensure that all systems and components meet stringent quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Perform functional, performance, durability, environmental, thermal, and chemical testing on automotive tapes in accordance to external standards and company requirements
  2. Develop, document, and execute test plans and protocols for new and existing products
  3. Interpret and understand external automotive testing standards (e.g., FORD, GM, CHRYSLER, DELPHI)
  4. Interpret and understand nuclear testing standards (e.g., ANSI, ASME, NCR)
  5. Work with external testing labs to get quotes, issue PO’s, and send out samples for testing
  6. Stay current with updates to ASTM, PSTC, and nuclear standards.  Ensure latest revisions are on file for reference
  7. Work with lab supervisor and engineers to integrate changes from standards into testing procedures
  8. Analyze test data, prepare detailed reports, and communicate findings to cross-functional teams for all internal and external testing
  9. Maintain all testing in a database for reference
  10. Collaborate with R&D, production, and quality teams to troubleshoot product issues and improve performance
  11. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in testing methodologies and quality assurance processes
  12. Perform additional responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: 

  1. BS Degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry or related experience
  2. Three plus years of experience in pressure sensitive adhesive tape, adhesive or release liner design, and manufacturing
  3. Competence in the basic understanding of process control equipment and the interrelations of processing conditions versus final product performance
  4. Competence in FTIR, DSC, peel adhesion, tack and shear testing, and other analytical techniques
  5. Entrepreneurial and continuous innovation mindset

 

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. General knowledge of chemistry, chemical compatibilities, safety protocols & experience working in a laboratory
  2. Knowledge in statistical methods and programs (SPC/DOE/MiniTab)
  3. Proficiency with MS office to record and report data in a professional manner
  4. Ability to travel as needed (limited)
  5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  6. Ability to prioritize, multi-task, be a proactive thinker, and results-oriented team player
  7. Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously
  8. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required for data-driven project management
