Responsibilities

Reports directly to the Vice President of Operations and is responsible for managing, directing, and implementing strategies and objectives to ensure the achievement of company’s goals in the production of plastic film.  This includes all manufacturing operations focusing on safety, quality, quantity, and cost control. Responsible for implementing and monitoring safety standards in compliance with all applicable laws and codes.

Qualifications

  • Manage, provide support and show a high level of visibility as it relates to safety and safety programs. Safety goal is to strive for zero accidents and zero incidents.
  • Ensure compliance with all OSHA and Berry Global safety rules for self and others.
  • Maintain good standing relationship and foster a positive work environment with all employees. Lead employees and programs to promote long term employment at all levels.
  • Responsible for minimizing scrap production while efficiently and effectively maximizing conforming production. Scrap goal is to strive for zero scrap produced.
  • Responsible for cost controls and optimizing processes to ensure all activities are value added while ensure all production goals are met.
  • Ensure internal controls are in place and adhered for inventory, financials, capital spending, etc…
  • Recommend and/or makes improvement to machinery, equipment and manufacturing methods to promote optimized production performance and machine utilization.
  • Control resource allocation and the use of personnel to ensure fulfillment of production schedules at the lowest possible cost while maximizing output.
  • Direct operation of all manufacturing departments and guide managers and supervisors in the performance of their duties assuring they have the tools needed to succeed.
  • Responsible for all capital projects and equipment reliability using tools such as preventive maintenance programs, project management, and KPI monitoring.
  • Comply with all ISO and SQF Standards and procedures; including documenting and storage of relevant items. Ensures Food Safety Good Manufacturing Practices and ISO Quality System processes are maintained. 
  • Responsible for the overall Griffin site’s continued safe and efficient operation.
  • Perform other duties as required and directed.

 

Additional Info

EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline plus 8 years management experience in manufacturing, preferable extruded plastics field.
  • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing procedures in the production of blown films.
  • Manage medium to large scale production environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and motivational skills.
