· Assign drivers to specific routes, load assignments, or customer orders using both in-person and digital dispatching systems (such as a TMS). Ensure that drivers are properly equipped with necessary instructions, documentation, and equipment for their deliveries.
· Monitor driver progress and track delivery status to ensure on-time delivery of goods or services to customers. Take necessary actions to address delays, reroute drivers if required, and communicate changes to customers and relevant parties.
· Utilize geotagging tools and software to track driver locations and optimize delivery routes for maximum efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
· Utilize ELD reports and data to ensure compliance with safety protocols
· identify any report all safety issues or incidents and take appropriate action as necessary.
· Serve as a primary point of contact for drivers, maintain effective communication channels to provide updates, address questions or concerns, and resolve any delivery-related issues promptly.
· Ensure that all necessary paperwork, such as shipping manifests, proof of delivery, and invoices, are completed accurately and on time. Coordinate and schedule shipments, ensuring timely dispatch of freight.
· Input and maintain accurate data entry records into TMS/ELD related to shipments and deliveries.
· Analyze shipping routes and adjust as necessary for efficiency.
· Monitor the status of shipments in transit, addressing any issues that may arise.
· Collaborate with Logistics Planner to streamline operations and improve service delivery.
· Preparing general dispatch documents for management, as well as pulling any documents that employees, customers, or vendors will need
Monitoring truck repairs and maintenance schedules
· Complies with all Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) and Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) regulations and company safety practices and procedures
· Records all absenteeism and tardiness and driver hours in company payroll systems
· Forward necessary timesheets/records to Human Resources
· Works closely with Fleet Maintenance team to make sure equipment pools are maintained and all equipment is in proper working order.
· Gathers and provides input for all coaching/discipline on drivers
· Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to address and resolve logistical issues or delays promptly.
· Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and company policies at all times.
· Assist the logistics team in ensuring proper resource allocation
· Bachelor’s degree, or closely related equivalent
· 2-3 years’ experience in Logistics or Operations
· Knowledge of LTL/TL pricing formats
· Experience using a TMS system required preferably PCS
· TMC knowledge a plus
· Ability to lead and influence in a matrix environment
· Proficiency in gathering, analyzing and interpreting data.
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel and related Office applications
· Effectively communicate with customers, both external and internal Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
· With a full understanding of the impact of role to total business costs
· Excellent attention to details
· Experience using an ELD preferably Geotab
· Ability to analyze and manipulate technical and complex data and provide meaningful information
SKILLS
· Proficiency in shipping and receiving processes, with a strong understanding of freight logistics.
· Experience with data entry and record-keeping practices.
· Familiarity with supply chain management principles.
· Knowledge of GPS and GIS technologies for route optimization.
· Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with team members and clients.
· Ability to analyze information quickly and make informed decisions under pressure.
· Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
