Under the guidance of the Production Manager, or Production Supervisor, the Team Leader will assist in overseeing the employees assigned to their shift, ensuring safety, process adherence, and compliance with quality and quantity standards. They will operate the shift according to established safety regulations, quality benchmarks, maintenance requirements, and production goals when the Manager or Supervisor is unavailable. This role may involve assignments in Production, Quality, or Maintenance. Production Team Leads are designated to a specific shift.  As part of the <TEAM> you’ll be responsible for…

 

  • Safety Assurance: Ensures the safety of all assigned employees (including proper PPE) by inspecting work areas for hazards during shifts and addressing issues promptly. Reports any violations to management as necessary.
  • Role Model for Safety: Performs tasks safely and sets a positive example for safety practices.
  • Support Department Goals: Upholds departmental goals and values, assisting the Manager/Supervisor in conveying information and updates to employees.
  • Team Organization: Organizes and leads employee-driven teams to address issues related to scrap, quality, safety, or other production matters assigned by the Manager/Supervisor.
  • Pre-Shift Meetings: May conduct daily pre-shift meetings to provide updates on production, quality, safety, and policy issues.
  • Employee Motivation: Encourages employees through effective communication, identifying and coordinating additional training as needed.
  • Product Quality Review: Monitors product quality throughout the shift by collaborating with Quality Assurance Technicians and Quality Auditors.
  • Staffing Plans: Assists the Production Supervisor in preparing staffing plans to ensure adequate coverage for scheduled production by reviewing production schedules, vacation requests, and absences.
  • Production Goals: Collaborates with the Production Supervisor to set and achieve production goals for the shift, ensuring all employees understand and work toward these targets.
  • Scrap Decisions: Determines, alongside QA Technicians and Production Management, when products should be scrapped or placed on hold for further review.
  • Production Problem Preparation: Communicates with Production Supervisors to anticipate and prepare for potential production challenges.
  • Machine Operations: Ensures machines operate according to production schedule instructions, product boards, and process specifications (e.g., correct resin, additives, packaging, line speed, temperature).
  • Maintenance Notification: Notifies Maintenance of any equipment-related issues and submits the appropriate work orders.
  • Training and Development: Works with the Production Supervisor to ensure proper training and development of shift employees, collaborating with Human Resources to identify training needs and create suitable training activities.
  • Data Entry Assistance: Aids production personnel with daily production data entry and reviews reports for accuracy, making corrections as needed.
  • Carries out other responsibilities as assigned by the Manager or Supervisor and may be required to perform the duties of an Operator II or Senior Operator as needed during the shift.

 

Qualifications

Q

  • Education: A high school diploma or GED is preferred, typically indicating the knowledge required for this role.
  • Skills/Experience: Previous manufacturing experience is favored, alongside the educational qualifications. Candidates with a 2–4-year technical degree are preferred.
  • Experience in blown film extrusion or film converting is highly desirable.
  • Problem Solving: identify and resolve issues quickly, analyzing information effectively, and developing alternative solutions.
  • Leadership: demonstrate self-assurance in both oneself and the team, encouraging and energizing team members to achieve their best, and skillfully swaying the actions and perspectives of others.
  • Managing People: cultivate the skills of team members and promote their development, encourage them to align with the Purpose, Values and Behaviors of Amcor.
  • Business Acumen: Recognizes the business impact of decisions made, exhibits awareness of the company's financial metrics, and ensures their individual contributions align with strategic goals.
  • Organization and Prioritization: Capable of organizing and prioritizing work tasks while simultaneously managing multiple projects, and adept at making practical decisions with little guidance or advance preparation.

    The physical requirements outlined here represent the demands that an employee must fulfill to effectively carry out the essential functions of this role.  

  • Walk to inspect the facility, including raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods, as well as overall manufacturing and warehouse operations for up to 50% of the workday.
  • Sit to prepare reports and utilize computer equipment for approximately 50% of the workday.
  • Occasionally climb platforms to train or assist employees with their job duties.
  • Lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Work a 12-hour shift.

Upto $35.00 per hour based on expereince.
