Responsibilities

  • Design and improve mechanical systems for plastic processing equipment (e.g., injection molders, extruders, thermoforms).
  • Conduct root cause analysis and resolve mechanical issues affecting production.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical solutions into manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation including CAD drawings, SOPs, and maintenance procedures.
  • Support installation, commissioning, and validation of new machinery.
  • Perform mechanical testing and simulations to validate designs and ensure performance standards.
  • Lead preventive and predictive maintenance programs for mechanical systems.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, energy efficiency, and process improvement.
  • Communicate with customers and all levels of the organization.
  • Create and read schematics.
  • Perform/Lead Mechanical operations and testing.
  • Organize visits and communication with outside vendors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing setting (plastics industry preferred).
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Strong understanding of thermoplastics, polymers, and molding processes.
  • Familiarity with FEA, CFD, and other simulation tools.
  • Knowledge of safety standards, quality systems, and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills.
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

 

Preferred Skills

  • High-Level understanding of electrical processes.
  • Exposure to robotics and industrial automation.
  • Knowledge of mold design and tooling.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional engineering projects.
  • Ability to instruct or lead fabrication.
