Responsibilities

SHIFT HOURS:  Monday – Friday 10:30 p.m.-8:30 a.m.  PM shift hours are eligible for a $1.65/hr shift premium on hours worked.

 

JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Technician I is responsible for repairing and maintaining a variety of production and building equipment. Must utilize safe work practices and maintain high standards of integrity and professionalism. Works under general supervision and on projects which can be complex and require original thinking and action. General directions are given on unusual or new assignments; works independently on majority of activities.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow all Amcor Safety Working Policies
  • Follow all Company policies as outlined in Handbook
  • Observes safety and security and security procedures
  • Conducts regularly schedule preventative maintnence on industrial machinery/equipment
  • Diagnoses problems on industrial machinery/equipment and repairs/replaces defective parts
  • Operates meters, power supplies, service monitors and test fixtures and understands their use and function 
  • Regularly inspects production lines and support equipment  
  • Operates hand tools and small power tools to include cutting of small parts
  • Maintains a neat and orderly work area; meets plant and department housekeeping standards. May be assigned additional housekeeping responsibilities throughout the plant as needed to maintain a clean and orderly workspace.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested

Qualifications

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent or combination of work experience and education
  • 1 year of experience in manufacturing maintenance  
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Must have solid mechanical skills
  • Must be able to read and understand mechanical and electrical blueprints, drawings, and schematics
  • Must demonstrate the ability to follow written and verbal instructions with little or no supervision
  • Possess basic computer skills
  • Possess basic mathematical skills
  • Possess experience using hand tools

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl while working on a variety of machinery for the duration of a 9 ½ hour shift.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Must be able to climb ladders, work from a lift, work with and around electricity, and may be required to work in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to work at height equivalent to a 4-5 story building.
  • Able to use all required safety equipment – harnesses, bump cap, steel toed safety shoes, gloves, glasses, etc.
  • Able to work in excessive hot/cold conditions, including outside.
