Responsibilities

  • Review schedule with scheduler and shift supervisors, manpower requirements, and machine priorities.
  • Oversee Department Budgets
  • Review department priorities with shift supervisors daily
  • Work with supervisors on training programs
  • Oversee Printing Department maintenance
  • Work with Quality Assurance on day to day problems
  • Work with Plate Coordinator and Quality Assurance on new and existing jobs
  • Oversee Ink and Blanket inventory; communicate with vendors on existing problems and their resolution
  • Responsible for overall safety of Printing Department
  • Work with Human Resources regarding staffing, policies, and reviews
  • Other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager
  • Follow all good manufacturing practices (GMP’s) and (HACCP) Practices
  • Any other duties as assigned by supervisor or department manager
  • Must Know the Quality Policy and apply it to working practices
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and help others as needed
  • Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible through active engagement in safety activities and provides clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations
  • Supports and investigates situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived, imminent safety risk
  • Completes responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, and applicable laws
  • Actively leads risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventive actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health or safety risks
  • Lead all required meetings with safety (i.e. Pre-shift, Department, Change Management, General communication, Town Hall, etc.)
  • Completes incident investigations, root cause analysis and implements corrective actions accordingly in a timely and thorough manner
  • Ensures the proper training and development of all assigned employees for whom they are responsible
  • Sets goals for their organizational unit; achieves goals and ensures that all employees understand and work toward achieving goals
  • Motivates and coaches employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback.  Identifies and coordinates additional training as needed.

 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

 

Directly supervises Group Leaders and operators.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training of employees, placing, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience:

 

B.A. or B.S. Degree or equivalent experience; five to ten years experience in management, manufacturing in printing industry.

 

Language Skills:

 

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence and memos.  Ability to write correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.

 

Mathematical Skills:

 

Ability to work with mathematical concepts, such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical solutions.

 

Reasoning Ability:

 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in an office environment.  The office environment is generally climate controlled, well lighted and has a low noise level.  This individual will also be required to spend varying amount of time interacting with employees in a production environment.  The production environment will at times contain fumes and airborne particles.  The noise level in the production environment is usually loud.

Job Type: Full-time, 24/7 operating manufacturing plant availability as needed
