Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

  • Accountable for the safety of all employees on their shift and that employees understand and work according to both Safety Absolutes and Plant Safety Rules.
  • Create an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture
  • Delegate tasks and set clear team goals to ensure that all metrics are met for this shift.
  • Monitor team performance and report on metrics
  • Motivate team members
  • Listen to team member feedback and resolve any issues or conflicts.
  • Adheres to and maintains good manufacturing practices coupled with quality plan expectations.
  • Follow all Departmental Procedures and Directives

 

Essential Functions: (Including but not limited to)

 

Safety:

  • Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible through active engagement in safety activities and provides clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations.
  • Completes responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, and applicable laws
  • Actively leads risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventive actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health or safety risks.
  • Lead all required meetings with safety (i.e. Pre-shift, Department, Change Management, General communication, Town Hall, etc.)
  • Completes incident investigations, root cause analysis and implements corrective actions accordingly in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Ensures the proper training and development of all assigned employees for whom they are responsible.
  • Sets goals for their organizational unit; achieves goals and ensures that all employees understand and work toward achieving goals.
  • Motivates and coaches’ employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback. Identifies and coordinates additional training as needed.
  • Responsible for maintaining the Food Safety Program (GMP)

Quality:

  • Ensure that all Quality Plans are understood and followed by staff.
  • Confirm that all quality checks are being performed by all production personnel as established by the Quality Plans.
  • Work closely with the quality inspectors and supervisor to identify and minimize quality defects and complaints.

 

Production Operations:

  • Performs warehouse work related to receipt, shipment, storage, distribution, or delivery of products, parts, and/or materials.
  • Works with Shipping Manager, Production Manager, Shift Supervisors, and/or Customer Service Rep to effectively and efficiently move product to and from the manufacturing facility warehouse.
  • Loads, unloads, moves, or stores items according to predetermined guidelines.
  • Schedules deliveries based on the delivery date requested by the individual customer and coordinates with an approved group of carriers provided in the Calcrate System of JD Edwards.
  • Prepares and prints loads in the JD Edwards system.
  • Notifies carriers of any special handling requirements and verifies paperwork for all deliveries prior to assigning the driver a dock door. Once trailer is loaded, will process the driver’s paperwork.
  • Responsible for receiving all-inbound freight and receiving it into the JD Edwards system.
  • Assures inventory accuracy and records integrity through cycle counting and auditing of all physical inventories.
  • Verify that all components of the sales order are present to be shipped
  • Completes BOM and other shipping documents to go with shipments
  • Maintain shipping documents for all outgoing and inter-facility transfers
  • Take precautions to protect warehouse contents against loss and reports any damage or lost product to Shipping/Warehouse Manager.
  • Responsible for notifying Quality Assurance and all other related personnel of any defect, damaged, or returned product as well as assisting in the coordination and isolation of the materials in question.
  • Responsible for maintaining the Food Safety Program (GMP)
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Personnel Support:

  • Lead staff to accomplish activities in an efficient and safe manner by:
    • Providing definition of job duties
    • Providing training opportunities for staff
    • Conducting performance evaluations
    • Defining criteria for personnel advancement
    • Administer coaching/counseling as required in a timely manner
    • Provide accurate attendance records to human resources indicating any point assessments
    • Enforce personnel policies and procedures; complete and submit all associated paperwork in a timely manner.
    • Maintain safe working conditions with a goal of zero recordable accidents and zero lost time accidents.
    • Control employee overtime hours.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of leadership experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Pass a background check and drug test
  • Must be able to monitor quality of machine output
  • Capable of lifting (up to 35 pounds).
  • Able to work in a production environment, recognizing various sounds and alarms
  • Follow all department procedures and directives.
  • Perform all duties in a safe and effective manner.
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • 1-3 years of proficient Microsoft Office knowledge

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Manual Dexterity -- The ability to quickly move hand, hand together with arm, or two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
  • Information Ordering -- The ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations).
  • Near Vision -- The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Extent Flexibility -- The ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs.
  • Wrist-Finger Speed -- The ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.
  • Multilimbed Coordination -- The ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting, standing, or lying down. It does not        involve performing the activities while the whole body is in motion.
  • Lifting Requirements -- Ability to lift 30 pounds over head to total height of six feet
  • Walking/Standing---Requirements ability to walk and or stand for 11 hours per day.
  • Warehouse Material Handling – 3-5 years of warehouse and/or material handling experience using RF bar code scanners preferred.
  • Forklift certified --- 1-3 years of forklift experience. Must be certified or capable of being certified.
