Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development and training of new employees and direct other employees in their work habits.
  • Consult / communicate with the Manager and then convey any concerns to the Tooling employees.
  • Perform employee evaluations.
  • Oversee the proper care of company property and equipment.
  • Work closely with the Scheduling Department to ensure awareness and coordination of projects between the two departments.
  • Work with supervisors of the other departments to properly prioritize work in the best interests of the company.
  • Assist the Human Resource Department with screening and interviewing potential employees for the Tooling Department.
  • Assist the Automation, Engineering and Maintenance Departments when needed.
  • Enforce all company policies, work rules, safety rules and good working practices.
  • Develop new Tooling department policies as necessary to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Keep proper records of maintenance performed on all molds and dies.
  • Analyze specifications, fit and assemble parts to make and repair dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges.
  • Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators. Measure dimensions of completed products or workpieces to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Simple setups on machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts to prescribe dimensions and finishes.
  • Operate metal or plastic forming equipment. Operate grinding equipment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma / GED equivalent.
  • Must be Certified Journeyman or have 8 years of work-related experience.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and direct employees.
  • Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Verbal communication is adequate to use a radio and or paging system to contact other co-workers in other areas of the complex.
  • Have the ability and willingness to work well with thermoforming manager, coworkers as well as our customers (customers are all Amcor production personnel).
  • Must be self-motivated and self-disciplined abiding by all Amcor codes of ethics, safety policies and rules.
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical systems and proven ability to apply that knowledge.
  • Must possess electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to safely use a forklift independently and maintain all applicable training requirements for use in high traffic, low clearance areas while not posing a safety risk to others.
