Responsibilities

  • Follow and support all Company Safety, GMP, HACCP policies
  • Follow and support all Company ISO and QMS policies.
  • Maintains the highest quality of services rendered and Gung Ho Spirit
  • Maximizing process efficiencies by analyzing layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and work force utilization.
  • Providing engineering/technical support for various departments to specify new equipment or systems, redesign existing equipment or systems, analyze efficiencies, or to test new products/processes/components/materials, while complying with applicable safety rules and regulations.
  • Preparing preventive maintenance instructions for process equipment.
  • Monitoring process equipment service histories to improve maintenance reliability.
  • Drive work execution including using computer systems to track information
  • Assist in ensuring CAPA’s are completed in a timely manner
  • Maintains good housekeeping in the shop and on the plant floor
  • Provides technical direction for day-to-day activities
  • Works with production and maintenance to improve systems and equipment
  • Maintains a working knowledge of all plant utilities systems

Education:  Bachelor’s degree in electrical/mechanical.

Experience:  In addition to the educational requirements incumbents must have a minimum of 6 years of experience in mechanical or manufacturing engineering.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with plant layout and design.
  • Must have knowledge of lean manufacturing and all of the lean tools associated with successful implementations.
  • Ability to manage a number of different projects concurrently.
  • A strong knowledge of Allen Bradley, Black Clawson and Cast film machinery is beneficial.
  • Must be self-motivated, self-directed, results oriented and possess good working habits.
  • Experience working with contractor installing machinery and modification of existing equipment.
  • Project Management & Implementation experience required.
  • Knowledge of and skill in electrical systems including PLC’s
  • Knowledge of and skill in domestic water systems including chillers
  • Knowledge of and skill in fire protection
  • Knowledge of and skill in pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Knowledge of and skill in motors and drives
  • Knowledge of and skill in air exhaust and supply systems
  • Knowledge of and skill in resin handling systems
  • Knowledge of LEAN and reliability best practices
  • Ability to communicate serious or potential down time issues to managers
  • Ability to supervise and direct the daily activities of the Maintenance Department.
  • Ability to make practical decisions without appreciable direction or advance preparation
  • Ability to perform payroll functions for Department.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to work around moving machinery or electricity requiring a high level of safety awareness.  Employee is required to work with various hand tools and must be able to wear appropriate PPE.  Employee may be required to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted while performing job duties; push or pull up to 100 pounds. Employee may reach, climb, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, bend or twist up to 66% of the work

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often subjected to changing priorities, time pressures and constraints, and a high level of job related stress.  Work is performed in manufacturing operations where the noise level in the work environment is typically loud.  Employees are required to use hearing, eye and foot protection.  Other PPE may be required when working around moving machinery.
