Responsible for all aspects of the operation of the department during the shift assigned. Including safety, quality, productivity, and waste minimization while meeting or exceeding internal and external customer expectations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible through active engagement in safety activities and provides clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations.
Supports and investigates situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived, imminent safety risk.
Completes responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures, and applicable laws.
Actively leads risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventative actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health, and safety risks.
Lead all required meetings (i.e., Pre-shift Safety, Departmental, Change Management, General communication, Town Hall, etc.).
Participates in incident investigations, root cause analysis and implements corrective actions accordingly in a timely and thorough manner.
Conducts required training on selected safety topics as identified and assigned by their immediate supervisor.
Supports team goals and objectives. Assists Print Manager with information dissemination and updates to employees.
Organizes and lead employee driven teams to address safety, quality, or other operational issues as assigned.
Provides input on employee readiness for promotion, participates in interviews, and recommends appropriate candidate for vacancies; provides or recommends training as needed.
Provides input for performance appraisals; addresses complaints and helps to resolve problems.
Maintains open communication with all team employees. Identifies and coordinates training as needed.
Reviews product quality communicating with Quality Assurance.
Upon consultation with Quality Assurance and Operations or Department Manager, determines when product needs to be scrapped or placed on hold for higher level review/action.
With direction from Print Manager, assists in preparing staffing plans to ensure adequate coverage on all work centers scheduled for operation.
Works with Print Manager to provide proper training to employees.
Works with Print Manager to set production goals.
Ensures that equipment runs according to the instructions/specifications on the production schedule, product boards, and process specifications (i.e., correct resin, additives, packaging, line speed, temperature, etc.).
Performs data entry of daily production. Reviews reports for accuracy and makes corrections as needed.
Notifies Maintenance of any equipment related issues. Submits appropriate work order.
Communicates with Print Manager to resolve problems.
Performs other duties as assigned by Print Manager.
Education: Knowledge normally acquired through completion of a High School diploma or GED is required.
Experience: In additions to the educational requirements, previous manufacturing experience preferred. Individuals with 2 – 4-year technical degree highly desirable.
MUST PASS COLOR TEST AND MECHANICAL APTITUDE TEST.
