Responsibilities

 

  • Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible through active engagement in safety activities and provide clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations.
  • Supports and investigates situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived, imminent safety risk.
  • Completes responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, and applicable laws.
  • Actively leads risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventive actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health or safety risks.
  • Lead all required meetings with safety (i.e. Pre-shift, Department, General communication, etc.).
  • Completes incident investigations, root cause analysis and implements corrective actions accordingly in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Ensures the proper training and development of all assigned employees for whom they are responsible.
  • Sets goals for their organizational unit; achieves goals and ensures that all employees understand and work toward achieving goals.
  • Motivates and coaches’ employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback. Identifies and coordinates additional training as needed.
  • Security diligence, including maintaining control of personal key cards, preventing unauthorized entry to the facility by non-Berry employees, and proper maintenance / security of Berry information and equipment within your direct responsibility.
  • Prevent nonconforming product from being shipped to customers.
  • Identify and record problems relating to product, process and quality system.
  • Observe all Safety precautions, Food Safety requirements, and Plant Safety Rules to prevent injury to self or others and to prevent loss of material or damage to equipment.
  • Follow and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain good housekeeping and 5S.
  • Adhere to all Safety, Food Safety & Quality Management System standards, practices and requirements.
  • Coordinate the full operation of the manufacturing process to produce plastic components in such a manner to attain optimum performance in the utilization of manpower, maintenance of quality levels, adherence to production schedules and employment of assets.
  • Plan, organize and make work assignments to operators and setup personnel.
  • Plan department activities based on production schedules to make optimum use of manpower and facilities.
  • Coordinate and check setups, machine operation, initial production and the use of all safety equipment.
  • Recommend and implement changes in operating procedures that will help to improve quality, lower costs, and increase productivity.
  • Establish and maintain sound employee relations within the department.
  • Encourage suggestions and ideas from operating personnel which could improve quality, lower costs and improve productivity.
  • Maintain conformance to work rules and regulations. Administer approved disciplinary measures when necessary and properly document.
  • Perform employee performance appraisals.
  • Develop positive attitude among employees regarding productivity, quality and housekeeping.
  • Implement required disciplinary action and all related documentation as needed.
  • Ability to train and work well with others.   
  • Attend First Responder training and become certified.

Qualifications

 

  • Capable of physical mobility including sitting, bending, twisting, standing, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Capable of maintaining an attendance record within company guidelines and be willing to work any shift and overtime as required
  • High school diploma or GED equivalency. Read, write and speak English. 
  • Past experience/proven ability within the specified disciplines, with negative drug screen test results.
  • Bachelor degree (B.A.) or equivalent knowledge in a manufacturing environment.
  • Five to seven years manufacturing experience / training.
  • Proficient computer knowledge, Word, Excel.
  • Capable of Utilizing Berry’s operating and support systems (JDE, QSI, WebEFF, CPRO etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
