Responsibilities

Primary Function: Assists Production Supervisor in daily operations to meet production, quality and scrap performance goals and will act as supervisor in his/her absence.  Comply with all Company policies and procedures. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review and check production and scrap rates during production shift for non-conformity with company guidelines and to maximize production
  • Inspect equipment for proper operation and report any irregularities to maintenance
  • Check orders, equipment and JDE system to verify accuracy of resins, additives, order packaging, inventory and scrap
  • Assist with completing detailed shift report noting any problems with orders and equipment for the department manager to review
  • Take appropriate action to ensure conformance to AIB, and SQF and safety and quality policies and regulations to include employee training
  • Attend regular department meetings, safety meetings and company provided training
  • Train, evaluate and prioritize shift personnel to equipment
  • Assist in troubleshooting production equipment
  • Supervise all employee activities during the shift in the absence of the Supervisor
  • Oversee good housekeeping practices
  • Oversee the plant operations and assist with problems throughout the plant during normal and other than normal business hours
  • Job duties subject to change as needed

 

      Front Line Leader Safety Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible through active engagement in safety activities and provides clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations.
  • Supports and investigates situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived, imminent safety risk.
  • Completes responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, and applicable laws
  • Actively leads risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventive actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health or safety risks.
  • Lead all required meetings with safety (i.e. Pre-shift, Department, Change Management, General communication, Town Hall, etc.) in the absence of the Supervisor
  • Assist in the completion of incident investigations, root cause analysis and implements corrective actions accordingly in a timely and thorough manner. 
  • Ensures the proper training and development of all assigned employees for whom they are responsible.
  • Follow goals for their organizational unit; achieves goals and ensures that all employees understand and work toward achieving plant/team goals.
  • Motivates and coaches’ employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback.  Identifies and coordinates additional training as needed.

Additional Requirements:

  • Overall responsibility for the production department in the absence of the shift supervisor and is expected to respond to any emergency
  • Must accommodate any reasonable request of the managers
  • Must be familiar with the safety regulations pertaining to the production department
  • Follow all J.S.A. instructions where applicable and ensure other employees in the production department follow all J.S.A. instructions

 

Essential Skills and Abilities: 

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, risk assessments, work instructions, operating and maintenance instructions, order forms and checklists   
  • Ability to complete routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively with co-workers or groups of co-workers, supervisors or others within the company
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in or from standardized situations
  • Ability to successfully use Microsoft Suite (Excel (Basic), Outlook email, PowerPoint and Word); JDE, GDC and CPRO. KRONOS, Self-serve approval via email for Time-off-Requests

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required. Minimum of 4 years blown and/or cast film extrusion  experience/training. 

 

Critical Skills:

  • Working knowledge of computers and their function
  • Working knowledge of all testing equipment in the lab
  • Ability to read, write, hear and speak English proficiently
  • Drive a “Can Do” attitude using continuous improvement tools in the plant environment
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and employees both in person and through written and verbal correspondence
  • Ability to perform duties with minimal direction and be self-motivated
  • Participate and help drive Six-Sigma Projects as assigned
