Job Summary

The Maintenance department personnel, under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, will primarily be responsible to service and perform preventative maintenance on injection molding machines and other equipment throughout the facility.  This position will also complete mold changes and setup the injection molding machines.  Maintenance department personnel must possess three years of related experience and certifications or licences appropriate to manufacturing industry are preferred.

• Complete mold changes

• Purge machines
• Clear bridged throat
• Unplug tips
• Check mold tips
• Change water lines and perform test, identify and repair any leaks
• Insert changes
• Clean platens
• Sanitization of mold, auxiliary equipment and other parts as necessary
• Test and change mold heaters

• Assist Auxiliary department with service and setup of auxiliary equipment

• Set up conveyor belts
• Change conveyor drive belts, chains and bearings
• Check conveyor motor or drive control
• Setup and service hot stamper
• Setup and repair handle installer and gasket installer
• Setup work station tables

• Complete Injection Molding Machine setup and preventative maintenance

• Check accumulator pressures and charge with nitrogen
• Service air solenoids
• Service and repair hydraulic pump
• Change accumulator bag
• Replace motor pump coupler
• Repair shut off nozzle parts
• Check and replace nozzle tips
• Clean heat exchangers
• Add grease to machine and service auto lube system
• Change pressure and suction filters
• Add hydraulic and gear oils to machines
• Minor electrical repairs if necessary

• Service and PM of Material Handling Equipment and Air Compressors and Dryers

• Service parts on machine resin hoppers and check function
• Service auto loader belts and motor
• Check dye feeder motor and repair dye feeder
• Clean dust separator filters
• Blow dust out of compressor and air dryer radiator
• Repair compressed air lines or fittings
• Check and add oil to compressor
• Disassemble to pressure wash compressor radiator

• Service and PM of Multistack and Cooling Systems

• Acid washing of heat exchangers
• Tower fan belt service and replace as needed
• De-ice internal and de-frost external tower fans
• Add chemicals to tower and chiller tanks
• Replace and clean multistack filters
• Service tower fan motors
• Maintain Amiad filters and related equipment

• Service and PM of Grinder

• Replace Grinder blades and check gap
• Change belts on grinder blower unit
• Check condition of grinder blower belts and impeller
• Clean dust collection bags

• General Repairs and PM and Manufacturing of Parts

• Cut and drill materials
• Grind parts
• Tap holes
• Minor plastic welding projects
• Utilize acetylene torch, overhead crane, man lift and elevated work platforms

• Other duties that may be required

Work Conditions

• Use of required personal protective equipment
• Operation and use of necessary tools, machinery, or equipment
• Extended periods of standing, and other physically demanding conditions
• Lifting, moving, or manipulating objects up to 45 kilograms on occasion

• Five or more years of related experience
• Certifications or licences appropriate to manufacturing industry
• Knowledge of appropriate materials, methods, and tools required in various assembly processes
• Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
• Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
• Ability to lift heavy objects, walk, and stand for long periods of time
• Ability to perform strenuous physical labour
• Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands
• Demonstrated ability to operate material-handling equipment
• First Aid certification
• Ability to work overtime as required, at times with little notice
• Must be able to work schedule rotation that supports 24/5 operations
